A(D) TEAM SERIES

PHASE 2
of the Disciple-Maker Team Training

Overview & Goals

A(D) Team Series is a 10-session small group experience following the first four sessions of Discover A(D), where individuals build community that’s centered around making new disciples of Jesus, while growing even more in their affection for Him. We provide you with the ACTIVATE(D) Journal, which includes ten chapters to listen to or read, along with reflection questions, and a format for meeting together as a team.

These 10 critical follow-up conversations will provide you with the tools and perspectives you’ll need to walk with a team and effectively make new disciples together.

The ACTIVATE(D) Journal

The goals of the A(D) Team Series are to deepen your affection for Jesus and equip you to be a part of an effective team that works to see Christ glorified in whole neighborhoods and networks of new disciples of Jesus.

Listen to an intro from ACTIVATE(D)’s
Director and Journal author:

  • Use the ACTIVATE(D) Journal that we mail you to walk together as a team:

    (Repeat for each session)

    1. Read or listen to a chapter from the A(D) Journal on your own.

    2. Reflect alone with the Lord by answering the chapter questions.

    3. Meet with your Team for a guided two-hour team gathering.

    4. Pray daily for those your Team seeks to share the Gospel with.

  • SESSION I - THE VISION (2 HOURS)
An introduction to one another, an explanation of the A(D) Team meeting format, and a chance to further pursue the vision to see Christ glorified in whole neighborhoods and networks of new disciples.

    Objectives:

    • Grow your desire for a vision of making the Good News of Jesus (intentionally) unavoidable to the people God has given you compassion (or love) for.

    • Be connected with other people who are committed to the same vision for themselves.

SESSION II - THE MOTIVATION (2 HOURS)
An opportunity to help us each identify what has or has not previously motivated us to share Jesus with the lost and realize that the Gospel in us is the only thing that purely and deeply motivates us to share it with others.

    Objective:

    • Practice assessing your inward motivations for making new disciples of Jesus.

SESSION III - THE NEED (2 HOURS)
An authentic identification of our personal need for revival and how the Gospel practically covers our sin each day, such that it cultivates our affection for Jesus and motivates sharing that with others.

    Objective:

    • Recognize and embrace your daily need for the Gospel and begin applying it to your everyday thoughts, emotions, activities, and relationships.

SESSION IV - THE RESPONSE (2 HOURS)
A look at how gratefulness for the Gospel produces a natural desire to be with God and know Him more; practicing spiritual disciplines as “want-tos” as opposed to “have-tos”; testifying to who God is, what He has done, and what He is doing; and sharing those things with others for their joy and His glory.

    Objective:

    • Respond to the Gospel in you with an overflowing desire to know God more and celebrate who He is with others.

    SESSION V - THE BRIDGE (2 HOURS)
A pure and simple encouragement for how identity-driven Gospel conversations can connect to another person’s sense of need, longing, and identity gaps, which can lead to opportunities for evangelism.

    Objective:

    • Realize the significance of how your increasingly-restored identity in the Gospel connects to others’ deepest longing for fulfillment in God.

SESSION VI - THE POWER (2 HOURS)
A prioritization of God’s glory that leads us to embrace our complete dependence on Him, listening to His voice to experience His power through prayerful lives of risk.

    Objective:

    • Experience the Spirit’s power through prayer-dependent lives of risk.

SESSION VII - THE SOURCE (2 HOURS)
An invitation to a Spirit-led Bible-based disciple-making approach that overcomes a purely cognitive/knowledge-based training, such that one experientially lives out his/her faith in the lives of the lost and teaches others to do the same. This is an introduction to Discovery Bible Study (DBS) as a helpful method for inviting people into discipleship.

    Objective:

    • Learn to practice a pattern of disciple-making that is easily done, anchored in God’s Word, and led by the Spirit so that you are equipping others with a reproducible model.

SESSION VIII - THE IMPACT (2 HOURS)
An opportunity to answer the questions: What does it look like to fulfill your Gospel ambition? What is your realized vision five to ten years out if you fully live into your Impact Statement?

    Objective:

    • Provoke your imagination for a passionate Gospel ambition over the next five to ten years.

SESSION IX - THE TEAM (2 HOURS)
An establishing of helpful team practices that resource us as A(D) Team members well after the ten-session A(D) Team experience and empower us with a model for discipleship that is reproducible.

    Objective:

    • Embrace the value of teams and how they help us practice living as true disciple-makers.

    SESSION X - THE COMMISSION (2 HOURS)
A celebration of all that God has done in, through, and around us; a reflection of the values and rhythms experienced in this A(D) Team Series; an invitation to further support and connection; and commissioning as disciples who make disciples!

    Objective:

    • Fully embrace your great commissioning as a disciple-maker and explore deeper connections with your A(D) Team, a new team, the ACTIVATE(D) staff, and the greater ACTIVATE(D) family.
