of the Disciple-Maker Team Training

Overview & Goals

Discover A(D) is a 4-session (two-hours each) interactive workshop intensive done online or in person, that roots our relationship in Jesus and who we are in Him. We know we can only give away what we possess, so we storyboard our lives, evaluating what we’ve learned from both our pleasant and painful experiences. We see how God’s story intersects with our story, replacing lies with the truths of the Gospel, and finding our motivation for being disciple-makers in the Good News of the Kingdom. In the end, we have a Personal Calling Statement that clarifies our identity in Christ, our values, and the unique impact we want to have, where, and with whom!

    If you are training online, you will receive a confirmation email with a link to join the Zoom video call at the appropriate day/time.

    You will receive all the necessary materials in the mail. Keep a look-out!


  • SESSION I - MY STORY (2 HOURS)

    • A welcome from the facilitator and coaches

    • An introduction to ACTIVATE(D) and its vision for disciple-making

    • An invitation to pursue more with Jesus

    • An opportunity to build a personal life “storyboard” that consists of all significant pleasant and painful memories and identify major turning points in which God was working

    SESSION II - GOD’S STORY (2 HOURS)

    • A focus on Jesus as the centerpiece of God’s story

    • A fresh reminder of what the Gospel is and its relevance to our daily moments, needs, and struggles

    • An awareness of how the father of lies distorts our understanding of who we are and who God is

    • An opportunity to be restored to the Truth by applying the Gospel to those lies we’ve held

    • A chance to capture notes on why we personally love and follow Jesus and what it is He’s given us to be stewards of

    SESSION III - OUR STORY (2 HOURS)

    • An explanation of all the ways our identities in Christ are distorted

    • A reading of a powerful children’s book that emphasizes how God sees us

    • A self-reflection on how both negative labels and accolades have shaped our identity

    • An exercise designed to give space to hear what God thinks of you, and then own it

    • A chance to articulate a unique and personal Identity Statement that details who God says you are

    SESSION IV - THEIR STORY (2 HOURS)

    • A look at whom Jesus was most compassionate toward

    • A chance to develop and articulate an Impact Statement that details whom we are most compassionate toward and what we want to see changed in their lives based on our unique stories

    • An explanation of how our core values determine how we naturally operate and therefore authentically minister to others

    • A chance to begin articulating our Value Statements, which define how God uses us to make disciples

    • A summary of how our beliefs shape our values, how our values shape our actions, and how our actions determine the impact we get to make in others' lives

    • An invitation forward to PHASE TWO: The A(D) Team Series
