Session 4 - Their Story

Welcome to the fourth session of the Discover A(D) workshop. This session is called Their Story. Below is a list of what to expect from Session 4, how to prepare for it, and some pro tips to help you as you walk through it.

  • Summary of Session 4 - Their Story - From Session 4, you can expect:

    • A preview of how everything we’ve done and will do in Session 4 works together to articulate: “Because of who God is and what He has done, I can express these things, to this person or people (who); naturally through these values (how); so that others might come to know and love Jesus, too (the why).”

    • A look at whom Jesus was most compassionate toward

    • A chance to articulate an Impact Statement that details whom we are most compassionate toward and what we want to see changed in their lives

    • An explanation of how our core values determine how we naturally operate and therefore minister to others

    • A chance to begin articulating our Value Statements, which define how God uses us to make disciples

    • A summary of how our beliefs shape our values, how our values shape our actions, and how our actions determine the impact we get to make on others

    • An invitation forward to the A(D) Team Series

    • Review the breakout questions for the session.

    • Spend time with Jesus praying for your Team.

  • Pro Tips for Session 4

    • Session 4 is the culmination of Sessions 1 through 3. This is the session that brings clarity to all that they’ve been working on for the sake of seeing Christ glorified in the lives of others who do not know Him yet. Everything they’ve worked on has been leading them to an understanding of how their story is being used by God for the sake of others who don’t know Jesus yet.

    • Your Team will begin drafting their Impact Statements. Their Impact Statement will consist of two main parts. First, it will help them clarify who those people are that God has given them unique compassion for. And secondly, the hope of what they want to see for those people.

    • As people are clarifying their who, challenge them to consider those who do not yet know Christ. Although it is great to help God’s people move forward in their relationship with Him, part of the Disciple-Maker Team Training focuses on the vision of seeing Christ glorified in whole neighborhoods and networks of new disciples of Jesus.

    • In Session 4, your Team will explore the circle of new life. It begins with understanding our why, which is Jesus. Next, we explore our unique biblical identity, which is what God has invited us to steward. Then, we begin to have clarity around those whom God has made us uniquely compassionate toward. And lastly, an understanding of our values brings clarity on how we live into all of it. And when we do, other people experience Jesus and begin to move through this circle, as well.

    • It’s okay if your Team members still have questions. That’s absolutely normal. By Session 4, your Team will have more clarity around their calling than ever before. And, with that new clarity comes new questions.
