Ministry Coaching
-
Coaching is a series of intentional confidential conversations that empower a person or group to fully live out their calling and achieve results.
Coaching gets results. It’s about getting you from where you are to where you want to be. Elite athletes benefit from timely insights and focused questions offered by trained coaches. Why? Because it is impossible to observe yourself while you’re doing whatever it is you are doing.
Why should ministry be any different? Ministry Coaching offers personalized opportunities for individuals and teams to advance their skills, overcome obstacles, bust through barriers, and develop new courage to produce results that matter.
-
If you want to solve problems, reach goals, and develop others, then consider a Ministry Coach. Our approach is client-centered, discovery-based, and action-oriented.

Encouragement and support
Accountability for action
Empowerment and creativity
Courage to lead change in themselves and others
Strengthened resolve to address conflict
Greater assertiveness and self confidence
Willingness and faithfulness to stand strong in the midst of uncertainty

In this track we will examine the process of leading change: in yourself and in your congregation. We’ll consider the connection between faith and change in you, your leaders, and those you influence. John Kotter, professor at the Harvard Business School, working with organizations of all sizes across the globe has discovered that healthy change processes involve eight generally sequential stages. We’ve been walking churches through Kotter’s stages successfully for years. Learn what they are and how they apply to changing your ministry organization. There’s an art and science to communicating vision. Practice cutting edge skills as you become a more effective communicator. Finally, change is impossible without influencing the culture that already exists in your ministry setting and becoming skillful at empowering those you work with and lead.

In a Church context that is becoming increasingly anxious, a distinctive kind of leadership is required. Perspectives and priorities culled from Edwin Friedman’s “A Failure of Nerve” and modeled by Jesus are applied to the challenge facing pastors in America today.
-
As your members are serving the unchurched you’ll immediately meet people who need God’s supernatural intervention: for emotional issues, physical healing, addictions, fears, and other plaguing challenges. We train you and your leaders in this one-day session to pray effectively for them in a way that invites God to act on their behalf.
Throughout Church history the proclamation of the Good News has been most effective when accompanied by demonstrations of the real-time reign of God. The Gospel is to be lived in word, deed, and power. A “two-legged-stool” is particularly ineffective in a post-modern world thirsty to experience the living God. As we’re “on mission” for Christ, is there a way to offer prayer, with the expectation that God will be revealed, while avoiding the wackiness associated with some on the fringe of the Church? Topics include: Introduction to Kingdom Ministry, a Ministry Model, Theological Understanding, and Application.
-
Practice a reproducible disciple-making process (Discovery Bible Studies) being used by God across the globe to share the good news and champion people to Christ-like maturity. Learn how to train members to impact those outside the Church. Receive tools to help the unchurched come to Jesus, and the churched to grow in Him. Examine Christian maturity, and how to provoke believers to grow beyond the shallowness so prevalent in Western churches today.
You and your leaders will experience the benefits of Discovery Bible Studies and see how readily they can be implemented by individuals, small groups, and initiative teams to introduce Jesus to those you’re serving in the community. What we love about DBS is that they are readily reproducible and easily multiplied to actually produce “Disciple-Making Movements” in your city.

Adapted from Novo’s (formerly CRM) renowned reFocusing Networks curriculum, examine and apply three critical skills: Mentoring, Empowering Others, and Mobilizing Leaders. Learn and practice these critical, time-tested skills in a learning community with other pastors committed to raise their leadership acumen.

What if seminary had actually prepared you for the realities of pastoral ministry in the post-Christian culture of the US today? This is our more advanced Pastoral Leadership track where we drill down on the most helpful ways to be in conflict. What do global experts like the Harvard Negotiation Project have to teach us about having challenging conversations when much is at stake? Every Christian leader will experience both isolation and leadership backlash multiple times. What is God’s intention for you as you’re having these character-strengthening experiences? We’ll work all day on these essential perspectives and skills.

It’s said “the most important leader for any leader to lead through change is the leader herself”. In our work training and equipping more than 5,000 pastors and church leaders we’ve found self-leadership to be essential. This introductory course is designed to strengthen your “being” side: so that you thrive now and finish well. Four topics will be examined: Spiritual Authority and its distinction from the four other power bases in ministry, Spiritual Disciplines that have served leaders well over centuries, Strategic Living (applying insights from Steven Covey’s research), and the critical role of personal intercessors on behalf of every Kingdom influencer.
-
The most important person for any leader to lead through change is the leader herself! You! This is our second track focused on leading yourself—critical for every spiritual leader! From Fuller Seminary’s study of more than 1,300 biblical leaders, historical Christian leaders, and contemporary Christian leaders there are patterns and methods God uses to develop Christian influencers. We will unpack the most common of these—most of which you’ve experienced without knowing what God was doing. As you clarify God’s particular calling and gifting, it’s imperative to renegotiate role expectations in your ministry setting and to establish goals for the most essential life and ministry roles to which you’re called. Finally, we introduce (and you will practice) skills of spiritual care to fortress your soul from frustration and confusion that so often lead pastors to burn out or drop out.
-
Pastors report the revolving door of members continually in need of advice or counsel—and little of it is ever acted on. Most of our CRM staff have experienced profession coach training, several are certified with the International Coach Federation. This course will introduce coaching for pastors and lay leaders, share the key postures and practices that differentiate coaching from advice-giving, teaching, or counseling. You will learn and have many opportunities to practice the C.O.A.C.H. Model, used by Christian coaches and leaders around the world with great effect. You’ll be equipped to help your people solve their own problems and break the cycle of dependence on YOU!
-
This is our advanced course on coaching. Built on Leadership Coaching I you will meet “the Competitor” and practice silencing it. We’ll introduce the pervasive role of resistance in coaching (and in life) and demonstrate the essential role of vision in every coaching encounter. You will be introduced to the “Con Artist” and begin to identify the cons you run on the world! We’ll conclude with an examination of coaching for life change, not just short-term relief or a quick solutions to annoyances in a client’s life.

Our Heart For Pastors
We believe in the Church, even if society doesn’t. In a culture that proclaims that the church is dying, we have hope. Because we believe that God has placed his calling on the lives of pastors and church leaders to lead the church beyond its walls and impact the community in undeniably powerful ways. We also believe that many pastors need help. Why? Because we’ve been there.
We’re a team of former pastors and church leaders with over 170 years of experience in moving churches and church leaders to the missional calling of Jesus. We understand the hurdles churches face. We understand the problems of pastors. That’s why we specialize in leadership development, church vision, and an engagement in the local community that leads to transformation. But notice the progression of this change. In the simplest terms possible: Our calling is pastors.
